Waste Baskets - The End of the Paper Chase! Every place of work has at least one and whether it is evident or not, the wastebasket can be made to serve many different functions. The size of the basket, the geometry of the basket, the material from which the basket is made, the color and the relative position of the basket - can all make a difference to you. If the wastebasket you have picked is inadequate for the volume of waste you generate - you will find yourself faced with a situation that is less than pleasing. Unsightly and unattractive clutter will continually be plauging you. A little thought to these questions can help avoid such a situation. - What is the average volume of waste you generate in a day? - How often does the waste paper baskets get emptied? - Where are the waste baskets to be located? - What type of materials are regularly discarded to the waste baskets? The answer to each of these questions will determine the size of the waste basket you require. The positioning of the waste paper basket in the room is also a matter that needs to be considered in relation to the interior decor of the workspace. For example, there are usually useability limits on what will fit under a desk or table and still be useable. Office space allocation must also accomodate the various patterns of use the waste paper basket will be subjected to. Whether it is intended that it be placed behind another object, beside or beneath a desk or in that unused corner, successful placement will strike a balance between useability, accessibility and attractiveness. Waste paper basket shape can also affect the best choice for your waste basket. Tapered baskets tend to be top heavy under full loads and will topple over, forcing unneccessary clean ups. It is advisable to tend towards sturdy, flat bottomed baskets with verticle sides. A number of round ones or rectangular ones that offer stability as well as functionality are available. And wooden waste baskets add another dimension of stability as they tend to be more substantial in weight than plastic or metal varieties. If you propose to use the basket in conjunction with your paper shredder, a tambour rectangular wastebasket will easily accomodate a personal shredder and provide a very stable platform for it as well. A suggested strategy for a multi-office environment is to locate a wastebasket that is fairly large close at hand where waste from numerous smaller baskets can be emptied at periodic intervals. This wastebasket will likely have to be in an reasonably accessible area - perhaps at a convenient corner. This will help keep waste from each office at bay, but has the downside of being highly visible by visitors. Extra large wastebaskets positioned in central locations like a reception area or near a photocopier and made from genuine wood will assist in enhancing the decor and avoiding any eyesores. A wide range of wastebaskets made from a variety of hardwoods such as Oak, Walnut, Mahogany and Cherry in a tambour style that are designed to employ the classic roll-top desk look are available at SuccessImage. Select the ideal match that assists in creating the perfect working environment in your office. |
